Pseudoaneurysm Thrombin Injection in Houston, TX Area

A pseudoaneurysm occurs at a site of vascular access such as for a cardiac cath, where there is a persistent leak from the artery access site into the soft tissues, often resulting in significant pain and a large hematoma. Prompt treatment helps alleviate site-related pain and prevent enlargement of the leak and surrounding hematoma. Using ultrasound guidance, Synergy Vascular and Interventional’s interventional radiologist can safely inject small amounts of a clotting enzyme called thrombin into the leak to cause it to clot off immediately while maintaining normal blood flow in the main artery.  The procedure is a safe, fast and effective therapy to prevent morbidity from these worrisome access-site complications.
